LED 350 Sphynx XC Build

Don't think I ever re-posted the pics from my build process on this site...so here it goes

Started with a basically stock '86 250R:

Picked up a Lonestar frame and swinger. Rath monster nerfs, HiPers, GBC X-Rex rubber all the way around

Then found the frame and chassis I couldn't pass up: '97 Laeger Narrow No-Link

No-Link adjustable swinger, PEP ZPS 8-click big bottle rear shock setup by SF Racing

Roll Design +3 a-arms; with the narrow chassis it turns out to be approximately 48" wide...about the max you want for XC/GNCC riding

One thing I really liked was where the stabilizer is mounted...keeps it out of the elements for longer life

450r rear brake setup:
450r caliper(any year will work)
450r brake stay(any year will work) in this case I used a Blingstar rotor guard (not pictured)
450r brake rotor (any year)
450r brake rotor hub(any year)
2 washers in between caliper and brake stay
250r axle nut

1st gen PC2000 275 Rotax PV - fresh from Millennium nikasil coating

Port timings were altered to be more suitable for XC riding, and additional port work was done by Laz @ GThunder. I absolutely love this motor.

Open heart engine surgery - mounted on Pumashine engine stand

Gear aren't to my liking to say the least - hoping somebody comes up with a solution for the 250R community

Assembly begins

Homemade pressure tester - PC2000 cylinders have to hold 6psi for 6 minutes...per Duncan PC2000 spec sheet

If you don't have the Tusk engine assembly tools....get them now and save yourself the hassle and $$$

I have lakers myself and I have found that they can look better with a couple "tweaks", if you are interested

drill new holes in the front fender mounts (about 1/2" away from the 90 degree bend) and then bend the top (where the fender mounts) down a bit

It will bring the fenders down closer to the frame and make it not look like the fenders are way up in the clouds, I hated how they looked

Very nice build though!  how do you like the no-link?

The Lakers fit very well and the quality of the plastic is great.

More pics will be coming when I put my SSI graphics kit on.
