We had the same issue when deciding to make the jump to a bigger quad. My daughter  loves the trx90 and it is bullet proof. but we needed more in terms of suspension not power so we went to a 300ex. We bought a local beater out of craigslist and slowly built it up. We did the DRR original and my daughter didn't like it. Then we were going to do a JB mod but could not find one locally. So we bought a 300ex for 275.00 and looked for used parts until we came up with this. We are all suspension but stock motor (besides a yosh pipe). When we need more power we will be able to grow.

I like the idea of using a 300EX. I usually see quite a few of them for sale for cheap. Just out of curiosity, why didn't your daughter like the DRR?

She couldn't get past the sound of the 2-stroke after being on a 4-stroke. Once it got on pipe she thought it was going faster than it was. It was twitchy and turned too quick for her. Most of it was in her head, but as a dad I want her comfortable so we unloaded the drr and the 300ex started.

I am thinking about trying to get an auto-clutch for it.

That's a sweet EX. I have a buddy that has a first year "93". Never had a wrench on her. Had to replace the gas tank, developed a rust hole in the bottom. Honda did it right on these!!!!! :victorious:
