So an interesting start to the race. I just installed a '99 CR250 ignition on the quad and only rode it around the yard once. Turns out they are a little more prone to stalling. I edited out the first 35 seconds of video when they started my class to me stalling it and trying to get it started again. lol  But I finally got it fired and off and running. It's just a vid of the first lap but out of 9 in my class, I ended up getting back up to 2nd. I put a new set of the xc DWT tires on and LOVE them too btw. Serious traction and felt a good deal lighter than my Holeshot HD front/Rzr rears were. The new ignition felt a lot more responsive every time I flicked the throttle and did feel like I picked up some more bottom end. Just butt dyno though. Hope y'all enjoy the vid. Shot it with an Ion cam off Amazon for like $40 because my $400 GoPro is a piece of s#!t and keeps freezing on me so I finally gave up on it. On a side note, anyone want a bricked GoPro Hero 3+ Black, I know where one is pretty cheap. Link to the vid is below. Hope the attachment works.

Yes, the cr250 will stall easier, and it will also be more responsive and rev out faster. With you racing XC, I would highly recommend getting a flywheel weight. There is a lot of opportunities to stall the motor in the woods. The flywheel weight will help with that. Go for the largest one you can find, which is typically 140z. You will still have great responsiveness. Even with the largest weight, the cr 250 flywheel is still lighter than the factory 250R flywheel.

If you dont have an issue with arm pump and dont burn your clutch out of adjustment, I wouldn't worry too much about it. In my case I would put weights on a stock flywheel because I get arm pump so bad. I can't grab the clutch and front brake resulting in the use of back brakes, which in turn causes me to stall the motor. If you are having a traction problem leaving the corners, weights will also help by slowing down piston acceleration and keep the tires from breaking traction.

They are a valuable tool when used correctly. Lots of racers use them in TT and XC with great success.

Thanks guys. I wasn't having a problem during the race. To be honest, I didn't really even notice it. I just gravely misjudged the start. I did 2 practice starts earlier and it did well but I must have gotten in a patch of hardpack and bogged the motor down. It was hard for me to hear the motor. I was sitting between a YFZ450 with a Big Gun exhaust and a big bore 525 KTM (640cc which I passed on lap 3 or 4 btw). The last time I stalled on the start was an ATVCCS race back in 2010. lol  I'm just going to have to rev it out a bit more and feather the clutch just a tad longer till it really grips next time.
