Im going to start putting up. Some pictures and stuff i had from another site relating to the race.
I sent a email to the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge. Asking there opinion on why the race was stopped. This was there reply-
Although the Blackwater 100 was a very popular and lucrative event in
Canaan Valley, the impacts on West Virginia's largest wetland were
significant and more than a decade later we are still mitigating those
impacts. With a multitude of other public lands open for ATV use
(hatfield/mccoy etc.) We do not anticipate allowing any motorized use
within Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge.

Conclusion.Enviromental groups didnt kill the race, the property it was run on was shut down because of the high levels of e-coli in the river. The property the race was on was owned by a power company (Monongahela Power), and they didnt want to have the liability of an e-coli outbreak on thier hands due to the massive crowds that gathered at the river crossings to watch the race. They started the first motions to end the race, and pretty much nobody fought it because the crowds had brought the locals to hate it when the race rolled around each year. There were murders, drunk drivers killing people, drug deals and drug use right out in the open on main street in broad daylight. The last couple of years the National Guard had to be brought in to keep the crowds under control. Sure, enviromental groups backed the ending of the race, but they werent the ones who stuck the fork in it. Even if there wasnt any danger of an e-coli outbreak the race wouldnt have lasted another 5 years at most, due to the antics of the crowds as I said before. Damn shame, the best offroad race ever had to be ended like that. If people would have used thier heads instead of coming up here and turning the whole area into a giant drunken brawl the race would still be here.
