For Sale - Parts / 363 Sphinx cylinder and 4 mil hot rods crank
« on: May 29, 2020, 05:13:56 PM »
Have a 3-4 weekend (ran) 363 Sphinx cylinder, head, piston and the 4 mil hot rods stroker crank that goes with it.  I built a spare motor used it a few weekends robbed a few parts off and never ran again.  I can't seem to make my posted pictures go through so PM me if interested with your phone number and I can text you pictures.  I'm in Oregon so a local cash sale would be great, will ship with Pay Pal payment.

$1,000.00

Thanks.  Maybe someone can tell me how to post a picture, seemed pretty like it was pretty easy but site timed out every time.

Engine and Bottom End / Led tranny gears
« on: July 03, 2017, 12:57:37 PM »
Question for any one that has bought an LED trans set.  Thank god someone wants to make gears to keep these things going.  I have a 310 kit from Arlan and finally after 2 years got it going.  Runnning all Eddie sanders product cases cylinder Arlen ported etc.  my question, has anyone experienced gear noise on decel while in 4-6th gears?  Finally got it out to break in and that's what I noticed.  I have the complete led gear set and billet shift forks.  Trans shifts through the gears fine.  I figure if I put the trans together wrong it would not shift or would bind and not spin at all.

This is no bash it's a beautiful set of gears just wondering if this has been an experience people have had.  I haven't talked to Arlen yet.  I don't have a lot of experience with the esr cases either maybe it's how the trans is pushed together once the cases are together the tolerances are a bit different than the stock cases

Suspension and Chassis / LSR a-arm heim joint replacement
« on: March 22, 2016, 02:28:07 PM »
does anyone have a McMaster Carr part number for the upper a-arm heim joints for lone star a-arms?  These are the heim joints that attach the upper a-arm to the chassis that are a pain in the butt to adjust.

I hate paying 10x the price going through lone star for the same heim joint.

let me know

Engine and Bottom End / 77.5 mm bore 330 Pro-X thoughts
« on: May 22, 2015, 02:57:07 PM »
Have a 77 mm bore Pro-X 330 that has been running for 4-5 years and is probably due for a piston.  Motor is apart for trans issues so going through the motor.

77.5 mm is the final bore on the 330, sleeve seems a bit thin at 77.5 but there's a piston size for it so going to do it.

Has anyone ever gone out that far bore wise and had problems?

anyone's experience would be great.

Engine and Bottom End / thoughts on engine combo to make
« on: October 28, 2014, 06:07:09 PM »
I have too many bikes and not enough time the past couple winters to service them to make sure they run when I want them to.  I have been repairing them the past couple weekends (spliting cases, do to blowups, tranny breakage, etc) and am finding in a couple of motors that the main bearings are loose in the case as is a few transmission bearings so I guess it's time for a set or two of ESR cases.

If this is the case, might as well build a complete motor and want some opinions since there's several options out there.  This motor will be purely a dune motor, and I want to concentrate on what kind of power it makes but want to focus more on what kind of torque it produces along with what kind of power it makes under the power curve.  I want something that makes it's power down lower in the curve like a CR 500 would with a good broad power curve.  mid to upper 60's for HP and 50+ ft lbs of torque.

I don't want to balance the crank, so I'm thinking no more than 80 mm on the bore, not apposed to a 4 mil stroke but would rather stay with standard stroke since they don't vibrate as much.  so I guess the options are:

standard stroke Sphinx
4 mil sphinx
Standard stroke Puma
4 mil Puma
something from ESR either standard stroke or 4 mil stroke

If I could get to my goals torque wise with a standard stroke, I would go this route.

I've had a couple puma's and I just really don't know about them for a real torque dune motor.  It would be the easiest to set up, I guess with the right pipe (I would go with an LED pipe) I could get there but I want a fun play motor that you can chugg down low, grab a hand full of throttle have it pick up and go.

I'm also a bit concerned with the larger ESR cylinders (past 78 mm) that water jacket over the exhaust port gets too thin for my liking.

give me your thoughts

Engine and Bottom End / Your thoughts on sleeve retainer for bearings
« on: October 18, 2014, 09:19:47 PM »
Putting new main bearings in a motor and unfortunately one side has loose bearings in the cases.  It goes against my better judgement but I used sleeve retainer to lock the bearing into the case.  It's solid now what are your thoughts?  I'm running it worse case it lets to and I but some ESR cases

Hi it's been awhile since I bought a new hot rods 4 mil striker crank.  Is the lower rod area still ground down on these so they clear stock bore cases?

While I am at it how can I tell on a 363 cc sphinx motor if my crank is a 4 mil crank or not without taking the cylinder off is there a measurement someone can give me? If not will take the cylinder off
