Just a heads up, they changed the ORV prices this year.

ORV Sticker is now $26.25
State park is $11
New ORV Trail is $10

All vehicles going in to the dunes need all three stickers. If you leave your truck in the parking lot, it only needs a state park.

It is probably slightly higher for the out of state people like it has been in the past I would guess
Anyone looking for a great builder I highly recommend the following.
For CP products dealers I would recommend:
Arlan at LED(site sponsor), Pete Schemberger at Hybrid Engineering, Mat Shearer at Shearer Custom Pipes, Dennis Packard at Packard Racing, and Nate McCoy of McCoys Peformance.

Other great builders I also would recommend: Neil Prichard, Jerry Hall, Bubba Ramsey and James Dodge.

Either way it is stupid to put 3 stickers on each vehicle. Annoying. Not to mention the double in price.

Michigan's new ORV licenses create better opportunities for ORV riders

Michigan's nearly 3,700 miles of designated off-road vehicle (ORV) trails provide hours of fun for riders, and a $300 million economic impact to gas stations, restaurants, shops and hotels located near the trails.

Trends indicate ORV riding is growing, with Michigan riders spending an average of $1,839 annually on ORV equipment-related expenses - everything from repairs to new equipment.

As of March 1, 2014, ORV licenses and permits in Michigan have changed, and include two levels depending on the type of riding you are doing. There is a $26.25 license that is required on eligible county roads, state forest roads in the Upper Peninsula and eligible national forest roads as well as on the frozen surface of public waters. This license is required to operate anywhere off of private lands.

In addition to the ORV License, an ORV Trail Permit (an additional $10, for a total of $36.25) is required when operating on designated and signed ORV trails, routes and scramble areas.

To capitalize on this growing sport, the Department of Natural Resources wants to take revenue generated from license sales and do many things to provide a better experience for ORV riders. These improvements include:

Acquiring an additional 300 miles for the state's designated ORV trail system.
Providing sufficient trail grant funding to stakeholders to develop, groom and brush trails and add signage.
Providing local law enforcement grants and grants for trail expansion areas.
Ensuring a safer environment for ORV trail users by increasing the number of conservation officers in Michigan, thereby boosting opportunities for education contacts and public safety through trail patrols.
Replacing and renovating failing or aging infrastructure, including bridges and culverts to address safety and environmental issues.
Creating destination places by adding trail connections to communities through easements and acquisitions.
Improving the ORV license-buying experience both online and in retail stores by enhancing the retail sales system.
Creating a southern Michigan ORV area closer to local population centers.
Better promoting Michigan's extensive network of trails and boost our reputation as the nation's Trails State.
With this additional revenue, Michigan intends to roar to the top as the destination state for ORV enthusiasts, benefiting thousands of small businesses around the state and providing a fun and exciting way to connect with our natural resources.

Another way to make some $ on growing activity. It's ok in my opinion if they use more of the funds for improvements (maybe larger parking lot at SL) and grooming trails rather than rent a Yogi's running around with decibel meters and rods to stick in your pipe.
I always felt at SL they needed to add an access road from the state park campground and expand the campground. Then you could ride on instead of packing the parking lot.

Jon you have no choice. You will be there.

George i think that'd be a super cool idea, only issue would be fueling up for us 2 strokers haha. But regardless, trucks, rxrs, buggies etc could all just drive in no problem. I too have thought it'd be wise to open up a few roads for those on the way to dunes or home from dunes. But again, hard to regulate. It'd be nice to have a second entrance and larger parking lot.

Well shit and i want to ride the forbiden dunes too!!

Colin- where are you planning on staying up there? We are pre planning Thursday till Monday. Looked at cabins at Silver lake resort but they rent Friday to Friday or Saturday to Saturday. So We might go the Silver lake campground route again. Joe (@Croat1) might be doin the same again.

Other choice would be a room or suite at Silver Lake resort. Its right on the corner but havin fires at night might be an issue.

My parents have a trailer at Silver Creek RV resort i may use, or i may just tent at Marc(@silverlake250r) place, or our buddies backyard next to marcs cottage. I will probably only stay friday night. Saturday night we will hangout a while, but we teach kids ministry at church and have to be here by 9 sunday. Thursday i will probably take a half day at work, go ride with ya'll, hangout at night and head back home, then come ride friday too!
