wheelie bar vs extended swing arm
« on: October 30, 2013, 12:59:46 PM »
ok well im currently using a +8 swing arm and race about 75/25 asphalt/groomed dirt, the front end is already pulling with the +8 on pavement with a rigid chassis, im thinking of going back to stock length swing arm and running a wheelie bar to gain some traction in the dirt and some consistence on pavement, any input on setup and pro's con's would be great!

Chassis set up is key to a good running quad mx to drag. There are a lot of theories on what's best. My personal  set up in a hill shooter chassis I'm plus 6 with plus 2 a arms out the front with a plus 9 out the back with a bar. In the dunes it's hard to hold down. Some big drag guys always go long out the front and a short length swinger.  It's thought that the rider weight is more over the axle and tire area.  If your runing a stock frame I'd almost experiment with a bar on the plus 8 swinger and see how it handles.  You can always mod it to fit the stocker. Another problem that could happen is if your to short your gonna slam the bar really hard and that may defeat what your going after.  Jmo though !  Also what kind of suspension are you running shaws oem or struts? Front and rear?

running solid struts all the way around, i was worried about hitting the bar hard, on asphalt i can leave it almost touching, dirt maybe a diffrent story with ruts and everything. i agree with keeping weight over the tires, maybe ill order some plus 2 forward arms and try the short swinger and wheelie bar or maybe a +4 and bar. i only ran one dirt drag with it last year i finished second but i was spinning alot! with turf tames and studs

arens330, good to see you over here.  My intent wasn't to be a d bag, I just dont' support .net.  Back to the subject, what motor and what kinda power are  you running?  stock frame I assume at this point?
