anybody familiar with this place ? never been there but might head down end of the month. other dunes i been to you just pay $18 at the entrance to get in and you ride for the day. is dumont the same way or how does it work ?  also wondering if i need some kind of nonresident ohv sticker  ? when i ride utah they require non resident sticker that can be purchased at some local gas stations and bike shops.  tried calling the blm in barstow to get some answers but it says the voice mail is full and hangs up.

I am sure the BLM voicemail is overrun right now with the .gov shut down. Yes I believe you can get an out of state sticker. When you drive in there are self serve ticket machines. Stop and get one or you will be paying a lot more the next day when they catch you.

The dunes are BIG there. The complete dune area isn't as big as Glamis, but you wont get bored. I think next year I may go for a couple days and bring my dirt tires as well to ride the surrounding desert.

you guys have actually been there and theres self pay stations as you enter ?  thats same way at sandmountain, except on big weekends they setup a gaurd shack to be sure no one squeeks through without paying.  with goverment shutdown i might not have any luck reaching the blm for answers. still i need to find out about the nonresident sticker. $115 ticket in utah for not having it

I've been to Dumont many times.  The main entrance has a manned station you have to pass in order to get into the dune area.  Last I recall it was like $40/ week on site or $25/ weekly off site.  Dumont does not honor the ISDRA aka Glamis passes.  The dune area is fun with a few big dunes and bowls but small compared to Glamis.  It's gets beat up out there on moderate to busy weekends.  It also gets very windy very quickly out there sometimes - but that also means you get fresh sand as long as you hit it early.

Dumont is a lot of fun.  The best part is the bowls transition from one to the next like a roller coaster.  You can easily ride 4th and 5th gear from bowl to bowl.  An added bonus is that it stays relatively smooth because all of the tire tracks are going the same direction through the bowls so its smooth if you stay in the grooves.  It does get pretty choppy around competition hill though.  Wind can be really bad, but I've been lucky most of the time.  I usually go for Thanksgiving weekend, so that would be the most crowded and roughest sand.
