Author Topic: Somebody tell me difference between stock atc 250r and mugen style fork sliders  (Read 5696 times)

I just picked up an old race bike. It has an extra set of forks that seem noticeably shorter than stock. Hoping they are mugen...lol Anybody tell me the difference? The bike has all kinds of other goodies. Short track tank, motoplat ignition....Thanks

Actually, the Mugen forks are not originally anodized, but just painted gold. I have a pair on my '86 Mugen ATC 250R. I got the front fork kit in NOS form. The lower tubes have a rubber plug on the bottom of the tube that protects an adjustment clicker that is on the end of the dampening rod. OEM stock forks just have the dampening rod bolt protruding through the bottom of the tubes (no clicker adjments).

This link has more pics of the front Mugen fork kit internals. They were new to me too back then.....

I got to see lots of neat things in waxs garage and under his house.

I painted my lower tubes gold on my 85 cuz  they were scratched up from its past life ice racing. They look pretty sharp. I'd like to put on showa decals on it sometime.

Man that gold is the icing on the cake!
