Honda seat mount rubbers: what's the difference?
« on: February 26, 2014, 09:03:59 AM »
I need to buy 2 need seat mount rubbers, the ones that your rear seat latch posts go through, the donut looking ones. I looked up an 86-87 model and it shows part # 77207-HB9-000.
Then I looked up an 88-89 model and it showed part # 77207-HA-000. I didn't realize there was a difference in this part throughout the years.
Does anyone know if there is really a difference between these 2?

Ok Thanks!. I got an 86 frame, but was just curious if one fit different than the other.

I just used the 86-87 rubbers on my 88 frame. They fit fine. I believe they are the same height and diameter. Looks to be a little different mold design.

Interesting Fred, I wonder if it was a material change.

Thats funny my 88 has the same cusions as the 86-87. The ones with the little slots on top were used on the ATC and measure 1/8" taller.

Here are the 89's http://www.mrcycles.com/oemparts/a/hon/506bb177f870023420a2183b/rear-fender  and here are the 86's http://www.mrcycles.com/oemparts/a/hon/506bb10df870023420a2178f/rear-fender

I like the 88-89's myself.

very interesting find fellas. I wonder if the height difference has anything to do with the cushion thickness between the years. Steve, what is it that you like about the 88-89 ones better?

Thanks for pointing the difference out. I went back to check my 88 and :sign0065: Now I have to remake the 88-89 seat brackets with the longer post. I am guessing the 86-87 plastic is a 1/8" different than the 88-89.
