Experiences with Motowoz shocks?
« on: March 14, 2014, 10:43:23 AM »
Does anyone have any experience with Motowoz? I am really considering them for a new rear shock. I have contacted them via email recently about a price and setup for a 250R rear shock and am awaiting a response. I was curious if anyone has had their shocks already.

No. heard good things though. I was looking at their website. Nice stuff but holy cow you can get an axis rear with the PRS set up for you 100% through Andy for the same price as a Motowoz.

I have Motowoz shocks on all 5 quads in my garage. Bought my first set back in 2009 for my desert race 450R, liked them so much had to get them for all the quads. Customer service is great, Jim is awesome to deal with. I usually send him an e-mail to call me, and he calls within an hour or two. (Once he even called me on a Sunday) Jim will take the time with me over the phone when I don't think the quad is handling right and he will discuss options with me. I really have no complaints, they are great shocks and even better customer service. Jim has even taken the time to setup custom shocks for me. (I send him compressed and extended lengths, he built the shocks no problem.) In the past I have ran out of the box Elka's, revalved/resprung Elka's, and Fox. Motowoz is the best of all of them in my opinion. Have never tried Axis or PEP, so I can't compare, but I bet they are just as comparable.

I don't see that an Axis rear with PRS is the same price as a Motowoz rear. If you compare apples to apples, then a dual adjust, dual spring shock from both is about the same, PRS is an extra $200. I have heard good things about PRS, so maybe one of these days I will have some extra money to buy a shock with it.

Also, when you order a shock from Motowoz, you also get a shock set up 100% for you.

Neither company makes a dual rate setup for standard link. Apples to apples, Motowoz is slightly higher. It is not if you order directly from Axis, but if you order through Andy at Maul Tech, it is cheaper. With the PRS system, it does make the shock more expensive than the Motowoz. Both shock companies seem to be pretty awesome though.

I know the rear Motowoz I had for the oem linkage was a single rate, but I could have sworn Jim told me he could do a dual rate if I wanted. Of course, this was 4 years ago, my memory isn't what it once was! I just told him to give me whatever he thought would work the best with my setup, so single it was. Then again, I was running the 86 dogbone and my shock spec was slightly longer then an 86 oem shock, so he may have had the extra room for the dual rate because of the longer shock.

You are correct on price. I just looked at the price of the dual rate springs, didn't realize that Axis was that much cheaper for a single rate. I am sure you could also go through a Motowoz dealer and save a little money also
