How to rebuild CCP steering stabilizers?
« on: April 22, 2014, 08:14:35 AM »
Like the title says, anybody know how to rebuild these things. I can see that the rubber seal on the top of mine is starting to squeeze it's way out. I wanted to see if someone knew how to rebuild these and what orings and/or seals they use and what kind of oil. I'm sure I can figure it out, but I really don't have time right now during race season. So if I tear it apart, it has to go back together very quickly. motofool250r, if you see this, do you know how?

Off topic... Thinking about purchasing one, How long did it last before needing a rebuild? Any pics of the inside?

TLR, I've had one on my 450, for about 4 years now, maybe 5 and no problems yet. And one on my 250 for 2 years now with no sign of needing a rebuild.

I don't know that mine really needs a rebuild. It is still functioning just fine. I can just see some type of oring or rubber seal on top that is starting to get a little squished out. So I want to have the materials ready just in case I needed to. What I can tell you is that these stabilizers work very well and fit very well. That are totally worth the money and they made a huge difference especially out on the mx track.

Back to topic. Surely someone has taken one of these apart at one point in time or another? Since more and more people are getting them, it wouldn't hurt to have these instructions. Mine has gotten alot of use out on the mx track. That may be why this seal/oring is starting to squish out a little bit.

Get a hold of Cranked Up Gear. If he is a distributor for these, maybe he can get the rebuild kit from James @ CNC parts. I would like to know for future reference.
