Hello, I saw in a few of your pics that your trx wheels had some sort of custom reinforcement rings welded in, did you cut those yourself? If so would you be able to cut me a pair?  Thanks for your efforts, Jason
Ac racing used to make a set with stars on them would this be difficult?

I used to use the cnc punch press and were limited to shapes of punches we had in stock. I cut these back in 2001.

With a little programming I can modify the star the resemble the one AC racing made as I can now cut them on the waterjet.

The 1/8" are more cosmetic than structural. I am only riding the sand and hit an occasional tree root or tree itself. If your doing desert or dirt you will want to go 3//16". The waterjet just has better software for cutting shapes. The drawback is the part becomes sandblasted on the inside and is difficult to polish. The welding of the thin aluminum rims is very critical. You will need someone with a fair amount of experience to weld without warping/ruing the rim. I have a jig that centers the ring on the rim and has 8 spots marked to tack it together. You just can't start on one side and weld all the way around.

Is it possible to put something on the back side to protect it when cutting on the waterjet? I  use duct tape to protect my surfaces when getting things sandblasted. Just thowin that out there...

I clamp the sheets in an inch above the cutting grates and use the PVC coated material. But there is no perfect way. There are always those times when you are not lucky. 95% of the parts I cut above the grates do not get sandblasted. The other 5% go in the dumpster unless they get painted.

The stars in the pic you posted are very fragile where the web is unprotected. I can see those getting damaged real soon. You would probably want to go a bit thicker on the web. Makes the polishing difficult also. But they do look cool.

I programmed this one this morning, not sure if if its the one you want. Made of 3/16" thick with a 3/16" web.

Side view to see thickness

7 3/4" and 8 3/4" in the star pattern are $12 each in 1/8" thick mild steel. With shipping at $12 also.
