What is everybody running for XC gearing? I'm running 13/38 right now, but it renders 2nd gear too short for some hill-climbs, and 3rd is too tall. I was thinking about going to 13/36-37.

Your thoughts?

LED 350 is what i'm using

14-38 on the ATC with 265 and the same or 37 rear on the TRX with 285 stroker. RaZr 20" tires. Good XC gearing, only need first for the super tight stuff everything else is 2nd or 3rd gear in the woods.

I am working on the same thing you are, I am currently switching from 13/38 to 14/38. I know Killer250R is running 14/38 now with his LRD 330 and has ran a higher ratio so hopefully he will chime in and give you some insight. I have messed with smaller bore carbs and all kinds of stuff trying to get the thing where I want it, the thing has super smooth power but gets me in trouble sometimes because it accelerates so hard I don't realize how hot I am coming into corners. Hopefully it will tame the thing down a touch, stretch the gears out some and give me a little better traction, it's awesome to ride when I'm fresh but when I get tired is when she starts getting me in trouble.

Thanks for the info. Killer is the guy I was hoping saw this thread. I know he's really been fine tuning his Roll 350 and has been doing well on it.

I run 14s on all the big bores (330 through 370)  and 13s on all the small bores (oem through 300).  I've found that to work best for XC.

When mine is running I run a 14/37 with the 330 stroker and 20" XC Masters.  Does quite good.
