I was planning on an oem. It is going on my flat track bike. I am changing to a 450 swinger and having to get it lower since the shock mount is an inch back and in turn raises the bike. I have a lowering link but it would also help to have a shorter shock

You can easily shorten the shock by using an internal spacer, but of coarse you loose the travel also. I have a oem that needs a rebuild but I will have to check what year it is

yea I agree.A shop may have different suggestions ,but if I were doing it for myself,I would use aluminum spacer between seal head and large washer that is the backstop for the compression valve stack.Any relocation of shock mounts would change the rising rate and that info should be given to the shop. With a linkage setup I don't know how much of a concern that will be.

A friend of mine called schmidtys about his shock on the same setup. They told him to use the R shock and linkage. Basically it is the same geometry but the rear shock mount is moved back an inch  which in turn raises the ride height.
