I've never ram an after market axle. This was on there when I bought it. Seems like the fade nut is backwards and the brass ring is not needed

The lock nut has to have something to push against. As long as it works is all that needs to happen.

Did you lose the retaining ring on the axle?

I have no clue. I've always ran a stock axle with my quads. I know nothing about this setup

Thats the cheaper durablue nut. I have ran that exact setup and it is not on backwards. The orientation is opposite from most other manufacturers. They are machined for the retaining ring and can only go on one way.
