New shocks & ride height

I just got a set of the Ella stage 3's. I have never had an aftermarket shock before so tuning them in is brand new to me. I was wondering what ride height do most of you use? And are there any tips for getting them set up how they should be? I weigh 225 and obviously had them set up for my weight just didn't know if you would need to know my weight for any of the settings

i used Rocket Ron to get my shocks setup. he told me a little over 7" under the foot pegs and .5" higher in the front. im totally happy with how my R handles setup this way! as far as tips go im a newb with custom shock setup as well. ive just done a bunch of google searching to find pointers on setting them up. nothing that i can actually remember! haha

I run 7.75-8" front and .25" less in the rear. thats pretty standard for MX and XC riding. both LT and ST shocks.

Here is a good article on suspension setup and ride height adjustments:

7" at the frame under the pegs which the article recommends for XC is a good starting point if your initial tender spring rate and crossover will allow. Always make sure the front is ~1/8-1/4" higher than the rear

Powerstroken,
Your ride height will really depend on how you are going to use them and how you had them set up. What did you have them set up for? mx? tt? xc? Let us know that, and then we can tell you where to set the ride height.

Ok. Now we are getting somewhere! For mx, everybody's flavor may vary a little bit depending on their preference, but here is the range. The height at the bottom of the frame at the pegs will be from 6-3/4" - 7-1/2" inches from the ground. The front will be from: even with the rear to 1/2" inch above the rear (never below the rear). I personally, set my shocks with no preload at first, see where my ride height is, and then adjust according trying to add as little preload as possible.
