431 puma pipe
« on: August 18, 2015, 12:52:03 AM »
Looking for opinions im having a hard time deciding what inframe pipe to buy. I have an order with arlan but hes about a month out and i already waited 3 weeks . I was debating between just sucking it up and waiting for the led, or going with a custom kenny roberts or cpi inframe.

Both cpi and kenny said the will have a pipe made by next friday. I got kenny roberts number from John at sandtoyz , i know he welds BDT pipes but he is willing to build me one on the side 600 bucks which i thought was a killer deal. Cpi is even cheaper at 490.

My motor is a 431 puma ported by matt shearer of course the best thing to do is to run the shearer inframe but my buddy has one and it has zero bottom end.
What do you guys think would be the best buy and the best performing pipe for a hard running duner?

I have a shearer pipe I tested off my friends puma, and that thing rips but its a light switch type of power. almost un-usable I looking for something that has a broad power band I can lug around.

My shearer is a broad power not a light switch it's a new design so you might see if Matt can rework the pipe to work.

Not to mention Skeans1 and I are running the smart carb on our inframe shearer pipes. My inframe Shearer Puma pipe works fine on the bottom end with the help of the smart carb. New motor, new pipe, new carb is evolution.

That smart carb sure does help, Puma what is your opinion both cpi and Kenny are a week and half wait time and around 500 - 600 , led has my deposit but he probably wont begin my pipe until 1 month. should suck it up and wait or get another pipe and go riding labor day weekend ?

i would use the pipe u have to ride over labor day and wait until arlan finishes the one u put a deposit on, i remember in your other thread u said it was mid-top end ported, so u will pry not gain much on the bottom end anyway. if you wanted a more usable powerband, u shouldnt have had it top end ported.

I have heard some negative comments how the CPI pipe does not fit well. I would definitely go with Kenny.

HAHAHHAHAHAH so I screwed myself by posting this on .NET. Kenny Roberts called me to tell me he cant sell me an exhaust because Carlos was on his ass for building me one on the side for 600 as he promised. he said he has to charge me the wurks price of 850. If I would of know Kenny worked for BDT I would of kept my mouth shut and got a killer deal, so the Kenny Roberts pipe is out of the deal . :culpability: SOB

When bad things happen good things follow , I just talk to Arlan and he told me he has an LED puma pipe in chrome ready to ship today I will have on my bike rippinn by Friday .
