What's everyone running? I love the aluminum ones from Snyder Motorsports but they haven't made them in some time. So I am looking at available options with a flag mount and (hopefully) one without a number plate mount.

RIS designs had some nice grab bars. not sure if they still make 250r stuff

Prm is good imo. I had a rear grab bar for many years an had no problems with it.

Their "standard" grab bar (https://www.prm-atv.com/index.php/honda/honda-atv-s/trx250r/product/2010-standard-grab-bar-trx250r.html) is the design I like but not a fan of the number plate "bar" nor the center placement of the flag pole mount. Would prefer flat pole mount in one of the corners.

So I have several different set up.I even have a 250r grab bar on a z400 also.The important thing is that 86-89 R's have the same wide at the grab bar 10 inches, so adapting any year grab bar is as easy as drilling a pair of holes. On a side note trx450r's are the same width but bolt patter is different. If your adapting one to work there are somethings to consider like, extended length doesn't let the bike stand straight up if your transporting or working on it that way. Extended length also keeps u from looping out( it drags before u bail out). Extended length also looks better IMO cause R plastics hang out a lot in rear, also protects rear fenders from possible damage. I like to use early R grab bar and install plastics then measure it up and drill and cut excess. My 2 cents.

I run an AC grab bar on mine but broke one before on the bottom of the rear mounts going over in the sand doing a first gear wheelie. There definately not the strongest out there. Makes me think AC stands for aluminum crap & the only reason I got another one is because thats all they had at the discovery point atv shop.

Thoughts on the angled design though? That's been my only hesitation so far but after talking with the owner, sounds like they can make these in a "straight" style also.

those ones of trxjeepers look like the are steel, no? seems like it would be pretty weak with that big cutout in between the mounting holes if it was aluminum.
the angle is just going to give u better leverage when trying to man handle the back of your bike around is all.

May as well build one out of stainless.
