Hey all, Just joined the forum today.  Glad to be here.  I actually registered with the TRX250R.net forum a few weeks ago, but they never gave me access to post or reply to posts.  I could log in but only read.  I got frustrated and found TRX250R.org.  Glad I kept looking for another 250R forum.  I am brand new to the TRX250R world.  Just bought an 89 250R from a guy for $2900 a few weeks ago.  It's mostly original, but has a K&N filter, Duncan Racing pre-jetted 39mm carb, Boyesen Rad Valve, Pro Design Cool Head, and Paul Turner Eliminator pipe and PT Fat Boy silencer.  The motor is stock as far as I know.  I haven't gotten a chance to ride it much yet, but want to take it to the Oregon Dunes this summer and hit the dirt trails this Fall and Winter.  I am hoping to learn a lot about my 250R from this forum and get ideas on how to improve the bike.  I want this to be my main bike for years to come.  Thx, Felten

Hi Broken1.  Yes, that's the one I got from CL.  Did I do OK or is there something wrong with the bike?  Please let me know when you can. Thx man

I was just curious because I was watching that 89 for awhile wishing I could get it myself. It looked pretty clean & well cared for. Post some pic's if you can, we all love pic's.... One thing about the silencer though, personally I really like the sound of the fat boy's but the one I had didn't even come close to passing the 93db limit at the dunes. Sand Lake accepts 97db & any public land other than the dunes are 99db. My fatboy without the turndown was 118db at idle with fresh packing.

Hey Jared, thx for the welcome.  Opposite side of the state must mean Eastern Oregon.  Farthest East I have been in Oregon is Bend.  Really like it over there.  Lots of good places to ride.  Yeah, we should get a ride in one of these days.  It would be fun.

Nope I'm way up Northwest corner by Longview.

I also watched the bike for awhile and finally decided to pull the trigger since it seemed to be the best deal on a 89 250R under 3 grand that I could find.  Unfortunately pictures on CL can be a bit deceiving at times.  The bike was a little rougher than what the pics showed.  There are several cracks in the plastic, a bit more surface rust than I expected, shot brakes, a few worthless aftermarket parts that replaced good OEM parts and when I took the engine skid plate off, I found some metal pieces broken off the left side of the engine case.  No holes or cracks in the case, but it looks like someone rode with the engine skid plate off and the motor hit a good size rock, taking some chunks of metal off.  I want to restore this bike and make it beautiful, but I hear the left side case is one of the most hard to find parts on a TRX250R.  I will try to get some pics up sometime soon.
