Maier considering updating plastics
« on: December 06, 2016, 02:57:15 PM »
Maier reached out to me and several others that have requested updates to their plastics. They want our suggestions and if there is enough interest will make updated plastics for our old machines. Please email them or message them on facebook to let them know what changes you would like. Here is a list of my suggestions. It would be great to have an updated plastics option for our old machines.
1. Shorten the rear fender in the boot/heel area. This needs to be substantially shorter in my opinion. Similar to Laker and Fullbore.

2. Offer your two piece fronts in a "race cut.

3. Add a scoop or vents to the front of your one piece race cut. Also add the traditional TRX250R indents on the side similar to your two piece plastics.

4. Make the rear fenders less floppy, that may be achieved by shortening the heel area as suggested above.

5. Make mounting similar to OEM, I don't know much about plastics but I'm guessing this would be the most difficult.

Mounting similar to OEM would go a long way in my book.  Otherwise, any additional plastic choices to be purchased new are welcome in my book!

Could they not knock off fullbore Style or try and purchase the mold from fullbore to make fullbore style fenders. Just a thought...?

Fullbore is still making limited runs. Fullbore would never sell the molds and Maier would never be interested in buying them or copying them. That being said they could make some changes to make a unique, improved option for our old machines. So we should all give our suggestions.

How about adding reinforcement ribs to specific areas to lessen the "flopping"? A la fullbore.

Also adding a hole to reach the radiator cap and fill the radiator would be nice

Personally I don't mind the length in the heel area, I think that's easily trimmed off if desired.

Leaving them longer might allow you to put mounting tabs onto your heel guards if possible, which would really help with the floppy fenders problem. Just another thought

Any update with Maier making another run with plastics? Colors? Also with new improvements by chance?

My buddy ordered a set of white plastics for his 89, and just got them two weeks ago. He said quality was good and fitment was pretty spot on, except for when the hood needed to be mounted. He had to modify the plastic alittle to get the FW carbon 89 hood to mount flush. Other than that, he's happy. I tried to get him to buy Fullbore, but it was to late :(

last news from Maier was that the "updated" fender project was on hold.  if I recall the reason was that they got real busy and couldn't get to the project.

Jesse D Maier posted this on Facebook today:

Owners of the legendary TRX250R... Maier USA didn't forget about you!
We had to put the project on hold for a bit, but we were able to devote some resources to put some love into our one-piece race front. I've also been getting a lot of requests for non-inventory colors...
Two announcements:
1) We've updated our one-piece race front (11723_). The new part number is 11725_. It has a new front scoop and side details. I dig it and think you will too. We haven't gone into production with them yet, but attached is a sneak peak of what it looks like.
2) I'll do a production run of Maier USA TRX250R fronts and rears (part numbers 11710_, 11720_ and the new one-piece 11725_) a week from now.
Got special color requests?
We carry raw materials for the following colors: Black (0), White (1), Red (2), Green (3), Yellow (4), Electric Blue (5), Dark Blue (6), Orange (7), Fighting Red (12), Stealth Black (20), Black Carbon Fiber (30) and Pearl White Carbon Fiber (31). Sorry, still no Silver.
If you want a color we don't normally stock (like Green), contact me with your special request by the end of next week, and I’ll make it happen. I'll send you an invoice and will need payment in advance. Once production starts, we will ship the product within a week or two.
We haven't changed (increased) the price of our one-piece race front. We gave it some love because we love this machine and the TRX250R community. Any orders placed with me over the next week will include free shipping anywhere in the contiguous USA.

I hope they have updated rears and updated full-fender fronts soon. The changes they made look great. Excited that someone is actually taking the time to do this
