Does anyone still make this style seat latch?
« on: August 02, 2013, 02:36:20 PM »

I'm looking for a new seat latch that has longer posts that use pins in them like this one. Does anyone make them new anymore? I know there used to be some like this on eBay but the guy hasn't been listing anything lately. The lonestar one isn't quite what I'm looking for but I guess I'll get that if I have too. Thanks, Jake

I would find a friend who has a machine shop and just have him make longer posts for that on, or find another set of the rear seat rubbers and do a little cutting on them to lower it down a little. That is what they use to do in the first place back in the day, I can remember seeing and having the cut ones myself.

^^ This. I have the RTC version (same thing),I cut my stock rubber's down, put on some washers the same diameter as the rubber and inner dia of post. Trim slowly to get the right height for a snug fit, works great!

What was the style that everyone was putting a group omf buy together for? Was that for the knob style or just looking to get the omf clip style?

Even though these say for a ATC 350X, they will fit the 86-87 TRX 250R if you re drill the holes for the pan mounting. They are made from stainless steel.

They will also fit the 88-89 TRX 250R if you cut the factory plastic pegs off the seat pan.

I just picked up a seat latch similar to that from Danhung.  The posts were too short also, I couldn't get the keepers through the holes.  What I did that was cheap and easy was to replace the screws with longer ones holding those dowels on.  Use a nut as a spacer between the flat plate and dowel to shim it down farther.  One 5/16" nut threaded on that longer screw worked perfect for mine.  When it's installed, the nut is inside the rubber bushing where you can't see it either.

Offroadracer on .net has one for sale. He also has a screen name here, but I don't know what it is.

Me neither.  I bought a latch like this, although it was a few years back, used on ebay for like 12 bucks.

I ended up getting the seat latch that I posted a picture of. When I started the thread it had been in an eBay listing and the auction ended but the seller still ended up having it so I bought it off him. It was a little more then I wanted to pay but man this thing fits nice with the 88 rear seat grommets. I'm actually going to have some shorter ones made up at work though so I can use the thinner seat grommets and lower the seat height.
