I am in the process of making a few rear shock linkage greaseable bolts as mine is worn out and they don't sell them anymore. And most of the used ones these days are looking rough. I'm just checking to see if there is a need to produce more of them. They would basically be replicas of the factory bolt.

The factory bolt is a unique shouldered style M12x110 greaseable bolt. Mine will be a factory replacement of that.

As I mentioned previously, it is NOT a regular run of the mill M12 bolt. Please pay close attention. Although it has threads of a m12 bolt, it enlarges up to 12.9-13mm in the middle section of the bolt where the bushings and the shock ride. If you use a regular size m12 bolt, you will have far too much slop in there. Will it work? Yes. But you will have a lot more slop in your linkage and it will wear out prematurely. If it were just that easy, I would have just gone down to the hardware store at bought one.

My intention would be zinc plating. The one I am making for myself will be zinced.

The bolt I checked on isnt from the hardware store. From what I have read researching the atc 250r 84-85 has a 12x110 bolt.

Partzilla for bolt size.I read on one of the trike sites that the atc bolt was smaller diameter than trx.I may be interested in 2 of your bolts.I need to rebuild my suspension link and I can only find the rebuild kit for the trx.

Not quite your run of the mill drilled bolt with a grease zerk. The only part that is 12mm is the threaded portion, the rest is 13.9mm to fit tightly with the bushings as mentioned earlier. Below shows the bolts, ATC on the left and TRX on the right with the ATC being 1mm smaller nominal diameter where the bushings ride. Anytime someone takes the time to reverse engineer and produce parts that are NLA from Honda is a great thing, good work!

Just an update. I have several bolts in process. I made 2 atc size bolts and 3 trx size bolts. They should be finished being machined this weekend. I am having a couple of them further heat treated, quenched, and tempered though I am undecided if they really need it. I will then take them to get zinc plated. If all goes well, I should have some finished one to show by the end of next week.
