Is there anyone still running these carbs. Seems there was alot of talk about them for a bit. Now don't really hear about them. Just seeing if anyone has been running one for long term or were they just a fad. Now forgotten

I was just curious. I almost bought one early on. But they had supply issues. So I cancelled my order. They still intrigue me. I still like the idea of not having to rejet

Can’t speak for the smart carb but I did talk to Pete about the lectron and he said stick with  the pwk they have better throttle response he said if you could get a bigger pwk he’d run them on all his drag motors

I had a 36mm smart carb and tried it on 2 different machines with poor results.  i followed every instruction, tip and tried many metering rods and setting and always ran like crap.  at one point, the bike was so rich, it nearly vibrated apart.

my though is they need to be super lean to work right and then you run the risk of engine failure.

Never ran one, but it sounds like I made the right decision to wait and see how they worked out before ordering one.

I've been  running  one for couple of  years, so far I'm  pleased with  it. It won't  tolerate an obstructive  intake  boot near the mouth though. A stretched  stock one for example.

So does the smartcarb prefer to run on a LED or *** intake opposed to the stock intake tube?

I would think so. They don't have the lip in them to block off the on passage in the carb.

I'm using a trimmed  lt500 boot and a modified  stock airbox. The  R is cr500  linkage  Laeger with a 40mm  billet carb. It's a tight fit between the boot and the shock. The billet carb  is a little longer than a pwk. I'm not  totally happy with the  fitment but it works. We'll  see what troybilt comes  up with. I need to use a box though.

I spoke with LED on this. he just finished my 363 we talked about what I was using my engine for riding terrain. we also talked carbs. I told him that I had 2 options 1 was a 41 mil from ESR that I got new with ESR 370 stroker kit. I also have a new smart-carb 38 mil. he said the 41 was to big and he also said he could not support the smart carb if I was to call him and ask for assistance in dialing in the engine. he said when the smart-carb came out and it was all the buzz that this was the way to go. he contacted the company and wanted to work with them on perfecting them for his engine builds buy testing them. he said he was met with opposition and they were not to favorable on his idea. that's too bad as we all know he would have been a great asset to the final result of these carbs. I ended up buying a 38 carb jetted by Arlan.
