How to repair lsr pro peg crack?
« on: February 07, 2018, 01:55:29 PM »
Lsr frame, how would you fix this?  Weld in a spacer to take up the gap or pull nerf off and weld it back as it was?
How do propegs mount anyway?  All I see is just the through bolt on front tube, nothing on back tube.

btw, glad to see this site is back up and running!!

I would of said sleeve it then weld it up. But looks like it is already sleeved. So maybe just get it back to were it should be. Then weld it up

remove the existing Pro-peg tube and then sand blast everything.  make another tube and weld her up.

the rear of the pro peg nerf mounts to the frame tube with the use of a nut and bolt.  look at the foot peg.....see the hole in the middle of the peg?  that's a thru hole for the bolt that should be there.

if you look at middle picture, there is not corresponding hole on the bottom of the nerf?

I took it to a local moto welder and he said it was un repairable?  if he welded it up, it would weaken that whole area and didnt want the peg to break off.

Grind out the welds for both sides take out the peg mounts. Then you should be able to run one tube through both sides. You could then tack it into place or drill in the center under the engine to use a bolt to keep in place. Then if anymore issues. Just take it out and replace and redo

i might suggest, having standard peg mounts to replace the pro-peg.  might be a more involved solution, but might be more reliable.

Anything made from metal is repairable if you have the time, patients,  and money. One thing to figure out is if the frame is chromoly, which I believe it is. I would pull it apart and clean up the rust/mud/paint. Then "V" out the weld joint so you can get a good tig weld in there. If I was close I would help you out. Good luck,  Loren

Good to see you've got someone to take on the project!

Have you taken a look at other nerf options like Rath or Factory43? I think you'd be pleasantly surprised at how much more grip you'd have with them over the AC units
