best +2 +1 a arms for stock frame for woods and dunes
« on: March 04, 2018, 05:06:26 PM »
I have some older laeger +2 +1 a arms that need ball joints.  Standard travel.  Thinking about just buying new arms instead of replacing the ball joints.  In everyones opinion, what would be the best brand to go with as far as handling?  If long travel  is that much better than that is what I would buy.  Woods and dune riding.  I have never been on a race track in my life and don't plan on it now.  Price is not a major consideration but I don't want to overbuy if I don't have to.

I'd go with JD Performance long shock a arms.

If you're willing to spend the money, then get the long travel. Don't forget you'll have to get new shocks or have your current ones lengthened.

But if you're not going to see a race track, and are just woods and dune riding then I would stick with the stock travel. Unless you've got money to blow, of course.

JD Performance can help you get the proper ball joints for your Laeger a-arms, or I'm sure somebody on this site has the proper part numbers The owner of JD, Dave, used to do most of the welding and fabrication for Laegers.

I bought +2 long-travel JD arms last year and I love them. They're really solid units. I was impressed

I am just looking for the best possible handling and ride for a stock frame quad. My other quad is a laeger narrow +4 t-pin so I want to try to get as close to that as possible with a stock frame.

I have considered a roll front end but +3 would be too wide.

They can make you any length from +1 to +4. You could also call up JD Performance. I have a set of their arms and am impressed with their quality. The guy who runs JD used to do all the welding and fabrication for Laeger

says it only fits a LOBO, but is that accurate?

Yes there are some Roll a-arms specifically designed for the LOBO frame

JD is a great value.  If you're going +2/+1 with 3:2 offset, then +3 with 4:1 offset wheels puts you at the same width.
