OEM ATC/TRX 250R or CR250R.  Stay away from the aftermarket ATC/TRX CDI's.  Unfortunately all the OEM components are discontinued (ATC/TRX and 2001 CR).  Prices for CR ignitions seem to be going up.  Buy if and when you see them.

I'm running a 1999 CR250R ignition in a 275PV.  2001 CR ignition is on the shelf waiting for a big bore.

I need to see what all the fuss is about a CR ignition. I run an 01 CR ignition on my R and have no complaints. Fires on first kick, snappy response and runs great.

But, I have never ridden an R with a stock ignition. So I can't personally speak on the difference.

I have ran both on the same motors. The stock 250r stuff has a little bit more low end the CR. I switched back to the CR on my BB. Because with race gas if you kicked it half ass. It would kick back. Now no kick backs even when I tried to start it with flip flops on (mistake)

Had a pvl but it took a shit over the weekend . so I put a stock one back in to keep my son riding over the weekend . It was definitely a little lazy with the stock one in it .

Haven’t checked it out yet just threw it in the tool box . I’ll let ya know if I get it figured out seemed to work good on that combo so would be interested in parts or just get another one new worst case .

Arlan advocates for the PVL ignition so I'd be interested to check it out. I run an OEM ignition at the moment

Pete also suggests a pvl as an option.  I will most likely use one on my next build as cr ignitions are hard to find and are being sold for ridiculous prices. My son had a pvl in his mini quad and it worked great. Pete explained to me that if set up properly they work flawlessly.

That’s a ridiculous price there usually around $450-$500 on average

discontinued parts and big dog turd pumping up the price inflated the cost significantly.

Well, glad I bought a R that had it already. I've still got my factory one as well for a back up.
