I'm trying out some VHT engine paint in cast iron color. It's darker than oem but it's fairly close. Baking it in the oven at 200 for an hour & it seems to be curing pretty good so hopefully it holds up for awhile. Did the WP & stator covers first as test pieces: After glass beading: Masked for paint: Left side is done so far: Here's the difference in the color's:

Loving this build. Definitely the “clean & simple” method that I intend to use with my next R. Good work you do.

It's been awhile but I finally got some time to finish assembling the bottom end. The engine had a hotrods longrod crank in it so I got another one to replace it with along with some non Honda branded Toyo 8 ball crank bearings off ebay. I had some assembly issues with the LR crank & the ebay Toyo bearings so after assembling it twice & still having problems I ended up taking the crank bearings back out & replacing them with Toyo CR500 bearings that were from Honda. At the same time I decided to use a hotrods short rod crank instead because I had one sitting around. It took me 3 tries but the third time putting the crank in everything went together like it was supposed to. Now all that's left is doing a leakdown, installing the clutch, stator & flywheel & its ready to go back in the bike.

Got the bike back together & running. Following the Duncan break-in procedure, got 3 rides in so far. 3 to go & it's ready to rip:

Thank you... Joe will be riding it again this year so it will be at the meet. He bought it to ride at the 2019 meet & has been hooked & coming back ever since. This year the R has a fresh engine inside & out, better pipe & it currently has the plastic from my wife's R on it until I can finish the race cut plastic I been workin on.

That machine is sweet!

In all honesty I miss owing it (for the short time I did). But, I’m glad it’s in a good home for Kevin and his his son to enjoy.

The Oregon R hasn't been ridden since last years 250R meet & didn't need much to be ready for this year but I cleaned up & painted some oem 87 a-arms to fix the sloppy front end. Also pulled the pipe to reseal it but other than that it just needed a good dusting off & it fired on the 2nd kick:

Went riding today & didn't get any pics of the dunes but took some pics when I got home of the R in back of my old 83 work van. I got this van a little over a year ago & have wanted to haul an R in it ever since. It worked out perfect:

Looks like a nice fit with room to spare!  Nothing like having your R INSIDE the vehicle too!
