Air filters

What air filters are you guys using these days.  My old setup was a K&N with a Uni wrap on the outside, but they havent made those since James Lucky went tits up.  Been using Uni quite a while since, but the last year or 2 the quality has gone to shit.  rubber boots crack, glue comes apart at the seams, etc.  Id switch to Twin Air, but they dont make one for the TRX250r.

using no toil maintenance system.

just checking if maybe there is a new option I havent heard of.

So I run K&N with an outerwears cover.  I ride in the Oregon dunes exclusively with my R. Uni used to make a great filter, too bad their quality has gone down hill.

Looks like no toil makes a twin foam filter for the R under pn 320-16: https://notoil.com/product-tag/honda-trx-250r-fourtrax-250r-1986/

I've ran K&N's from Eddie for years on a bunch of motors, always been great.  I'm running a S&B filter on the 443 with the Robl/Vision Air intake.  S&B quality appears to be very good.

I noticed the same thing with Uni filters recently.  I'm going to have to try something else also.  I only got 1 year out of my last filter before the glue started separating.

I run mostly K&N filters. My quad, truck (tow rig), motorcycle and my son's Honda. My track car runs a custom JBR dry filter like, a K&N. My utility quad has a oiled UNI filter. My off-road rigs and my "other" Truck all run stock filters and get them changed often. I'm not a big fan of K&N's but sometimes it's all that does the job. K&N's are often over oiled and cause damage to Mass air sensors.

Twin air filter number is 150902.  I’d have to guess UNI has a universal filter wrap for the K&N.  An option is to buy a sheet of UNI filter material and make your own wrap.

For those of you having issue with filters separating, be cautious of the cleaner you use. It is a possibility that it is eating the foam/glue.

Crazy that there is not a paper filter that’s up to the task. Always seemed so crazy to me that the oiled cotton is a no no in automobiles sports, but it’s the go to for bikes and quads. Maintenance is the key I suppose. I was always religious with cleaning my Uni’s.

I think oiled cotton is the go to, because the options are slim to none. Also motorcycles, on and off road/quads get used very little compared to the daily driver that might go 20K a year.

I've found paper filters to clog too easily.  They work fine for cars because your car isn't really seeing the dusty conditions that offroad filters see.

I don't know about all Polaris quads, but the Polaris Trailblazer (which is basically a full-sized kid's quad) comes stock with a paper filter, and that sucker just clogged up all the time until I tossed it for a foam filter.

Hey Joe, I bought a Twin Air a few years ago.....and it's smaller than the OEM filter ??

I see MOOSE makes one too....and it comes pre-oiled! ;)
