Ok so I knew they made OEM replacement tanks in black, but never knew they made seats in black. Are there any other differences between one that came "on the quad" versus this "after sales" seat?

Ryan, this never came on a factory quad but it is a true Honda part...red seat with 88/89 height foam on a 86/87 seat pan.

Who knew there was an OEM part with 86/87 pan but later years' foam height. Wonder what the reason for that was, just on-hand inventory that Honda had (more left over 88-89 seat pans and not enough foam? Or if it happened in 87/88 as they transitioned to the new style foam and so that's what they threw on the 86/87 pans)? None the less, cool history!Joe thanks for posting this stuff, very cool!
