2002 Laeger's 250R Based Hybrid
« on: March 01, 2022, 06:44:07 AM »
Hey everyone! Its been many years since I have been active on this forum but I thought I would share a "250R" related project with you all.  Here I will be documenting my 2002 Laeger's (250R Geometry) CRF450R hybrid.  This is 1 of 7 CRF chassis that Mark Laeger produced before selling the remaining off for CT Racing to complete.  The first 7 original chassis can be identified by the unique front motor mount.  This bike specifically utilizes CR500 linkage and a Pro Trax MX width front end.

I must confess that if anyone has been following my DBC Racing social media pages this is not my first time putting this specific bike together.  This winter I tore it down to address some minor issues as well as re-powder the frame, arms, and swingarm.
The shop that powder coated this for me in January of 2020 did a terrible job.  Powder was majorly under-cured and it was chipping to hell pretty much as soon as the bike got ridden.  So the old powder was chemically stripped and re-done by TLR Coatings here in Michigan.

This specific chassis utilizes all 250R components other than the motor, exhaust and carburetor (Yes I know I am stating the obvious!)  Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the progress as I document the project on this thread.  I hope you all can appreciate it even though its a four stroke power plant!  ;D

Welcome back Blake.  I seen pics of this quad when you first got it.  I’m looking forward to seeing updates on this thread.

Here are a few photos of the Rocket Machining and Design front and rear billet hubs.
Similar to the Hardkor rear hubs (yes thats right Hardkor made rear hubs),
the rears utilize a splined stainless insert.  A full billet rear hub with aluminum splines
will wear out overtime and develop some slop.  The SS insert solves this issue.

See the 3rd photo for a look at the SS insert I am referring to.

Thanks for sharing the info on the rear hubs.  I sold off my LSR rear hubs (all aluminum).  I also sold a RPM set as it not fit the “Style” I was long for.  I’m currently oem rears but I think those Rocket hubs are in my future.
