Reproduction intake boots

Thanks for checking, Joe. If it struggles to fit the OEM carb, surely it’s only worse on a larger one. 

I have an OEM boot that I’m trying to get to fit on a 39 PWK - no luck yet. I’ve done it before with the boiling method, but I just can’t get this one to stretch enough. I’ll keep trying. I was hoping the reproduction boot was going to be a potential option if I can’t get this one to go.

Wes, have you tried using oil of Wintergreen and alcohol?

I've used a heat gun on 3 old stiff oem boots & it worked great

I boiled the boots in water to soften them and also used a heat gun. I personally like the heat gun best. The boots are hard to hold on to if it is scalding hot all over. The heat gun heats right where you need it.

I worked with the hotfootmoto guy years ago to make the first 86. I never ran the reproduction I got from it, but I remember the material being really stiff. It wasn't a bad attempt, but I never ran it.

I did have an open filter bracket made that is longer on the carb side so that a CR reed boot can be used, which I think is preferable for smaller bore engines instead of the larger volume trx boot. I still have a few. I'd be glad to send a couple.
