We don't have a Honda shop here so I order from Service Honda online. Usually takes 12 days before they get here. Just have to look ahead and get everything you may need for an upcoming build.

The local Honda shop here is a joke.  If you don't have a crotch rocket they don't want anything to do with you.  The Suzuki dealer in town is great, I buy a good bit from them.  The old guy at the parts counter was slinging parts when the Suzuki quadracers were new and we talk a lot about them when I'm in there.  I've heard mention of Service Honda, I'll check them out next time I need to order anything.  Oh and not too long after I posted about my parts the tracking number showed up in my email.  The box should be here Tuesday.

Nice R, I really like the 86's. Don't know if you guy's like cheapcycleparts.com but I've always had good luck getting oem part's through them, haven't purchased any R part's from them yet but I've got a lot of part's for my xl 200 there.

I managed to get the bearings, seals and crank installed in the left case this morning.  It turned out to be a totally aggravating experience.  First the ol' burns o matic torch ran out of propane and the bearing only dropped halfway in so I ended up pressing the bearing the rest of the way in.  Started to fire up the oxy/acetylene torch but didn't want to throw that much heat to it.  Then I was using the crank installer and the crank turned when I wasn't paying attention and I pulled the connecting rod up against the case half.......hoping it didn't bend the rod or hurt the bearing.  I decided it was best to leave the right case half alone today.

Waiting on the cool head dome.  Then it's a leak down test, finish assembly and back into the frame it goes.  I updated the clutch to the 88-89 style with the thrust bearing.  Hopefully I'll be riding next weekend.  I plan on tearing down the frame soon to replace bearings/seals and add some upgrades.

Glad to see the motor finally back in the frame.  Gotta go through the carb and order some jets but hopefully I'll be able to do a few shake down runs next weekend.

I hope you get a real good case saver before you ride it so you don't throw a chain again and break these cases too bud. I like the new ss ones that go over ther shift shafts, but I haven't gotten any yet for my quads.

Got a few updated pics.  Got PEP's on the front, new shrouds, pipe, chain, new back wheels & tires and a ton of small parts that were missing is on.  Just a few more things to get done on it and I'll get to ride it some.  At the first of the year I'll tear it down for powder coat and upgrade some parts.

Looks like your build is coming along nice. Was cool to see you order stuff from Honda East of Toledo which is about 35 minutes up the road from me. They are the 3rd largest Honda dealer in the US. I've been standing in their parts department and heard them taking orders over the phone from other countries before. The last time I was in there I had them look up an 86 TRX250R axle nut (the one that holds the hub on the axle) and they had one in stock. They are typically 15 to 20% below retail right off the bat so I don't usually bother with RockyMountain anymore unless I'm going to order more than $100 and will get free shipping, and even then it's a toss up because they're prices are better.

Thanks scawn.......still has a ways to go and cash to suck up.  Besides the great prices Honda East is a site sponsor on the quadracer forum Im a member on and members get a break on orders over $100.00.  Plus them being on the east coast I get my orders quicker.

Fired the ol'girl up today.  Man it was nice to hear her run!  She is running way rich and has a exhaust leak at the flange.  Going to reseal the pipe then work on the jetting.  With the 20+ degree temperature swings we've been having around here lately jetting is going to be a pain in the ass.

Here is how she is sitting now.  I'll be ordering a black seat cover and front tires after Christmas.  I will clean up the front rims and get the spray paint off before the new tires go on.  Still have some parts that have to go on.....LSR antifade, front stainless braided lines, water temp gauge and rear brake system.  She will be a rider as is until I get my Suzuki done, then I'll tear it down for powder coat and figure out what I'm going to do about the front suspension and rear shock.
