Panthera Motorsports 600cc in Yfz450r
« on: May 19, 2024, 10:05:43 AM »
J recently ordered a Panthera Motorsports 600cc two stroke and will be installing in a Yfz450r.

I have a 3D printed mockup engine and I am planning out the engine mounts.

As for the exhaust,  the biggest hurdle.   I spoke with Arlen of LED and he would like the quad shipped to him to fabricate the exhaust.   Thoughts on this???

Please share any thoughts or ideas on this project.

Thank you,

John

Hey John, That's really cool that you have a 3D printed model for mock up! Did Panthera supply the file for printing ? Or did you create it yourself ? I'm assuming this is different than the trx450R 2Stroke conversion motor they supply....as I have seen that in a yzf450 chassis.....I'll try and find that pic as it had a hand coned pipe ....might help with someone who can make one for you. Sounds like a great project! Definitely keep us in the loop! ;)

Panthera supplied the printed mockup

I am not certain that they supply a kit for the trx450 but I know it would be an easier install but I opted for the yfz450r because it handles much better than the Honda in my experience.

As for the pipe.   I saw a similar build with an FMF with a 91 cr500 and it fits without modification.   However,  I spoke with Arlen and he is interested in doing the pipe but he wants the quad sent to him.

I found the pics of the Panthera 550 in a YFZ.....it might have been RP Race that built the pipe. Nice clean build though....I'm sure if Arlen does the pipe for you it will look and function great! ;)

Langbolt, thanks for sharing.   That looks like a gen 1 yfz.  They have a bit more room between the front downtubes but I feel this pipe routing will work but Panthera doesn't agree.   However based on the yfz450r with the standard cr500 a cr500 exhaust fits.

Here is a quick mockup I did.

;D Wow that 500 Pipe fits really well.....may as well try it and see how it performs.....Maybe Arlen can make some suggestions on how to alter it for even better performance ;)

I actually found out Panthera also supplies the exhaust.   This minimize some of the cost and headache.

I also acquired a set of LSR XC arms from a pro racer (Walker Fowler) which has titanium uppers.

If you didn't want to go 600cc.....you know you can buy just the bottom end to get the E-start & Counterbalancer.....then use a CR500R top end .....so that Pipe will match up to the Porting!

Just another option.
