Administration/Moderator Questions / For sale…Craigslist 250R’s
« on: July 02, 2022, 09:57:06 AM »
Ryan, let’s add to the description of the Craigslist for sale topic.  I’d like to add 250R parts in the description.

“Find a 250R or R parts”….

Thanks

Hey Joe....I think it's a TYPO....they accidentally put in CANADIAN Prices instead of US!!!

lol

;)

John, I’m sure all of us wish they were typos.  I have a few XC axles but I’d like to get a MX one.

Are you (were you) affiliated with “Service Honda” that made the SRX 250?

What’s the difference between your Service Honda kit and the one one being offered on eBay and by the retailer on the other R site?

One of our old forum and respected members did a review…on a system albeit an older version with good results….I'll do a search and post the links.

As asked…where are the components made?  I believe it was stated that the CDI was made in Taiwan?

Good question… I’ll look and report back.

Kevin, what’s the Oregon “R” have on it?

I recently seen an engine build and it had the new color cap on it.  Thus the reason for the post here.  For future oem restorations to use the correct “color”.

Same part number but looks like Honda no longer makes the cap in black.  I’m sure there’s plenty of old stock around.

New color looks off white or grayish

Blake, I tried searching.  No luck my friend.  For whatever reason when I search on FB the comments no longer come up on older posts….does the same thing happen to you?  Any others here have the same issue?

Engine and Bottom End / Re: Best idea to repair this in place?
« on: June 22, 2022, 12:01:27 AM »
Man that’s bad.   I cut threads at work everyday (single point , thread mills and rolled threads).  I can get long winded on thread form… the importance of thread: major OD, thread flanks, pitch diameter, thread root….
If I needed to save a week/weekend of riding especially far away from home I’d to what I needed to do to save the trip.  But then again I’d park it and fix it the right way by getting a new crankshaft.

Is this your only engine?  Back up?

Thread file won’t work.  I’ve used honing stones to “deburr” thread imperfections but what you have is beyond that.
From the looks of it you have to re cut the threads.  I’m thinking the thread blank diameter is going to undersize thus causing a sloppy fit with the nut.  A thread chaser won’t work.
