That's a pyramid reed valve. I haven't seen one in years!

Nice work! I struggled with this myself last year and I wish I had your skills.

I never had any personal interaction with desertR but I valued his input whenever I saw it. I didn't see the thread that he's talking about but I hope that he will find a way to continue to post here someday.

You'll have to PM him for availability but ps2fixer over on 3WW was making adapters to use the newer style CDI's and may still have the connectors on hand. I can vouch for the quality of his work being top notch.

Hybrid 250R / Re: FST 500X
« on: March 28, 2021, 08:02:47 PM »
Looks pretty cool. Years ago my best friend bought a 250X that someone shoehorned an XR500 motor into. It ran strong and he could almost keep up with my 250R but he kept shearing the kickstarter shaft off and he sold it. I guess that was a known weak point on those engines, I wonder if that's why Mickey Dunlap used the 350X bottom end here.

The Mad Scientist / Re: 3D printed
« on: March 04, 2021, 08:10:40 PM »
Haha, these are mine. The final product will be reaction injection molded, sort of an ABS like material in black. High end 3D printing like this is too costly.

I gave one to Mike Sabo to test out, and he's running it with no issues. If Dave Moore didn't tell him to take it off, then I assume it's breathing well.  ;D

Mike Sabo's 250R shreds since the last rebuild, that's awesome that you're a part of it.

Engine and Bottom End / Re: Discontinued NGK spark plug

I work in the automotive industry and my local Napa rep gave me some E3 plugs to try and I've actually had good luck with them. (though I still keep an NGK on me, just in case).

E3.31 is the part number that interchanges to the B8ES

This is great news, I use PRM products on my 250R and my 350X

For Sale - Parts / Re: ISO A TRX250R FRAME
« on: December 17, 2020, 08:06:17 PM »
His profile says he's in New Jersey. I possibly have one for sale in Connecticut. It's a mint 86 frame with all the bolts but I have a lot invested in it and I'm not sure I want to sell it. Still, if you can't find anything else let me know and we'll see if we can come to an agreement.

Nice!!!  I like the block letters.  Maybe it’s time to grow the mullet back....now with an old man bald spot.

Yeah those were the golden years for sure! I was riding on the Northeastern part of the state but ventured over to the Cromwell sand pits a few times. I'd give my left nut to go back for one more day haha

Nice pics, thanks for sharing! I wish I had some pics from back then.

You've got it way better than here in Connecticut, we have nothing at all for ATV's and bikes have to be registered and insured to use one fairly small legal riding area.
