Very interesting build. Curious as to why the gas gas motor
-
I was looking for a big bore two stroke and couldn't find what i wanted in a reasonable price range. I expanded my search and found this at an excellent price. it is basically the same engine in the gasgas 300 wild but at 250cc.
also, a 250r pipe will work on it so, that saves that agervation.
-
Cool build. Is that intake the same 6 bolt pattern as the Honda.
-
I was just curious. I have rode a 300 bike before. They have a nice power delivery.

yes. it is the same bolt pattern as the 250r. I found that interesting. the engine weights about 20 lbs too. the best part is the 50 hp stock.

Cant wait to see more. I would like one of these motors for my 85 atc.

Looks like kick starter is going to be an issue. To bad it wasn't one with electric start

you are correct. I have a few ideas, if I am unsuccessful, there is an electric start kit. It is expensive though.
-
Still going to be cool however you do it

Parts pile is looking good John

The hammer-tone paint on the gull-wing swinger looks killer. Well done sir.
-
thanks guys. i found someone who does the silver-vein PC the way it should be done. some more pics of misc., parts.
-
here is the front motor mounts test fit. the white one is the 3d printed prototype. the other side with the offset did not work, so i used a yfz mount to use to establish offset.
-
here a fender install tease. still a while away from the official install. Plus I got the boy doing the wrenching.haha
-
Very nice! Good to see the young buck getting involved.

not a bad start. he isn't even 3 years old yet
-
chain alignment was a success. no mods needed.
-
is this a stock motor ? what shocks are those they look like yfz ?
-
that is a gasgas 250ec. those are yfz shocks, shortened for this chassis.
-
Looks good Jon excited to see it up and running in the near future.
-
Thanks jared!

Just ordered this: https://www.ktm-parts.com/EE855002510.html

I really like this build
-
thanks gene!
I will send this to doug roll when it is complete, since he never got back to me about buying the titanium a arms designed for this frame. it might be because i bad mouthed elka. i think elka sucks.
-
Some sub assembly complete. Front hubs rebuilt with custom 3D printed dust cover, and brand new calipers.
-
x-33 before and after:
-
here is the yz caliper modified and with fresh PC.
-
the header section of the pipe modified to meet the engine specs. This is the 250r pipe i got used, and will use it on this. I will test fit and get welded.

I think Elka sucks too, but there’s a difference between Roll/Elka and just plain Elka. Just tell Doug how awesome his chassis and components are. Toot his horn. Btw, Jed can help a lot too. They pulled a miracle for me getting me a lobo swingarm before my Glamis trip last January, and I didn’t even buy any Elka shocks from them. Motowoz!!!
