You can also use plasticote cast aluminum caliper paint. It’s high temp cleans oil and gas off of it easily. I’ve had it on cylinders for years and it looks new still. But it’s not it’s very easy to re-coat it and make it look brand new again.

Engine and Bottom End / Re: Revvs then dies at idle

Pull your plug and look at the top of your piston. If it’s the gray sludge I’m thinking of that’s from detonation and you could’ve lost a piston. You might be able to look up the exhaust port to and see the damage. It usually happens on exhaust side of the piston . It sounds like that’s what it is.?

Poor fuel flow of the gas cap vent tube and or check valve is stuck/plug. If it’s partially plugged you could ride awhile before a vacuum has formed where you’d start having starvation issues.

Check your pulse coil and that it is around .010"  to .013" also check your spark plug gap and make sure it's around .018 to .020" see if that helps..

Puma keeps running away on alky but when I purge it with gas it idles and stays running.
Its not as hard to start as I thought it would be.

Fatten your needle up a couple turns then start backing (leaning) it out a half turn at a time till you get closer to it's happy spot then you can go in 1/4 turn increments to fine tune it..

Sure is. The mid to top end is crazy. Pulls so hard. She beat my bro's jerry hall lt 500 dyno'd at 75hp and I think I was a little lean, highest jet I could find was 220 still a little a learn, she ran good but would fall on face until 1/4 throttle. Never got hot though.

How does this sphinx compare power wise to your last one?? Not reliability, we know where you stand on that...Lol I was curious if your first sphynx was as quick..

First of I would like to thank all of you for spending the time to post information that is helpful to others. It is! I've been watching this place from the sidelines and decided that I could be a contributing member and there's some really great people here. A little info on me, middle aged male, been riding 16 yrs, ridden lots of different atv, extensive automotive knowledge all aspect and areas, I'm a thinker/tinker to, Family Man, respectful, former polini tech, I wrenched at all amature nationals (Lorettas, ponca city, mini O's,world minis, lake Whitney, oak hill,Branson etc.) Been out of it for a while now. I like riding in dirt, live near pismo, love high desert riding. Lots of bikes. Learned to ride on 250r and a banshee. There's a whole lot more, but that's all u get.lol!  Thanks again, glad to be here.

Welcome to the site!! I see the words polini and tech in your description!!!  My son has a polini x3, where is a good place to purchase jets and needles??
