Title: 2000 Full Walsh build
Post by: jamieg45 on August 04, 2013, 01:48:46 PM
Ok all here is my long term walsh build, here is how she sits now.
(http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/ii530/jamieg4558/Walsh%20build/IMAG0221_zpse8ca6cfd.jpg)(http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/ii530/jamieg4558/Walsh%20build/IMAG0222_zpsd5b15b7f.jpg)(http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/ii530/jamieg4558/Walsh%20build/IMAG0223_zps89ac94f8.jpg)(http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/ii530/jamieg4558/Walsh%20build/IMAG0224_zps3805ee95.jpg)

Ok no pipe rite now it is being cut and re angled to fit the cr500 suspension set up, a great member on here is doing it for me only because he has had to do it to many of his own and a few other members pipes too.
What I actually have left to do is get the shocks set up for my weight, a +2+1 chrome stem and a fat bar clamp, graphics kit, seat cover, tires for the front dwt rock out rims, rear tires and dwt beadlocks, fwc scooped hood, and a few other things I am pry forgetting.

Jamie I have your old set of laeger a-arms, I thought the orange looked like a pretty cool colour.  Whoever does your powder sure puts on a thick coat as it took a bit of blasting to get it off.

Well I have got a little more done on the Walsh thus week and some today, got the chrommolly rear rotor guard powdered yesterday at work. We do all black powder, I wanted it blue to match the frame but for free who's gonna complain and its gonna get rubbed on a lot since its the closest to the ground. And today I got the new bolts for the swingarm pinch point, now I need to vet the money for the new throttle cable, front tires and a chain. Theset the front end nd ride height and its on, hopefully soon troy and can get on the graphics and then I can order my seat cover also. Then save up to get the shocks set up for me and a new +2+1 stem. Ow yah its finally getting close now.

Super nice build.  How wide are those arms?  Is that pretty much the same geometry as a narrow Laeger?
Title: 2000 Full Walsh build
Post by: jamieg45 on August 25, 2013, 05:54:47 PM
I don't remember the measurements on the arms and yes its pretty much the same as a laeger. But if I want to shorten it a inch on the coward to back is flip flop the spacers on the frame and for the bottom shock mount.

Just been checking your build out, real nice! Makes mine look like a junkyard dog lol. Any chance you could take a pic for me so I can see how you routed the rear shock resi line? Also where did you get the clamp from?

Ok I did some work today on the R, not a whole lot but some. I rerouted the front shock ressis because the hoses were bent to much and I found a better way to run them to my clamps. I got the rear wheels on and the axle nuts tight with new clips, checked some bolts and anti seized some stainless bolts so they wont cross thread.

I got good news today, the pipe is actually on its way. He said that he messed up my zip and they never shipped it out, he said it went today though. Now all I have left to do is buy a chain, graphics from troy, new throttle cable, front tires, set the front end and ride height set up, and I will be able to atleast ride it around the yard. Then save up for a fwc seat cover, get the shocks set up for my weight, a +2+1 chrome stem and a fat bar clamp, asv levers, new rear tires.

Well my pipe showed up today from mu buddy Joe H. ( sj281 ) he cut and redid my pipe so it will fit on the cr500 walsh frame. I got that sealed up and installed, and I also got the new throttle cable installed too. No I am just waiting for my esr cool head for the pro-x and I will be getting a chain and front tires to get this young lady ridable very soon. Here is some pics for you all.
I just tossed it on and checked fitment and to see what spacer I needed for the silencer, much better with a 3/4" spacer compared to about 5" before joe cut and reangled it. It fits beautifully now and is ready to be fired up.

Well my esr race gas dome will be here in a day or so, my blue esr head from my good buddy Jon (spiritaces) will be here by the end of the week. And my skid plate mounting hardware will be here in a few days also from works connections. I mite have tires real soon, a member that had bought some stickers from me is badly wanting my riken front radials I have and is gonna get me the maxxis razor cross fronts I want for the Walsh. Hopefully next week I can get the chain and then off to the race shop to set up the front end and ride height.

Well I tried to install my skid plate from walsh but the new clamps from worksconnection and the pre-drilled hole from walsh aren't out far enough to do both sides so I will address that tomorrow. Here is some pics of it though with a few clamps just holding it up there the best they can. And I also talkedto Pro Armor today about the buckles and they aresending them to me fro free for the nets, which I never expected from them at all. So congrats to them and I appreciate it so very much.

Yah it was, the last pic is how it would of had to be without the cur and weld done so the stinger would be in the rear shock spring. Its all good now. It has just the rite clearance and no interference at all. Now I have to fix the skid plate issue, it never fails when you think or it all seems to be coming together something else has to have a issue or a bump in the road.

Well through the terrible day I had with my truck and having no brakes because of a brake line hole in it. My new to me ESR blue cool head came in and I got to install it while I was waiting on tools from my brother in law. I got the pro-x head off and installed new O-rings and I also installed the full race gas dome from esr (28cc), got the rest of the new coolant lines on along with the new ESR blue temp gauge too. Lets just say she runs and has some serious kick back now (wow) I cant wait for the cr ignition, well got it running and checked for leaks and got all of the air out of the coolant system and all was good no leaks at all. Now I need a chain and some money, thanks to the truck it took my money, but its just a little more important to drive than the quad is. Here is some pics and a vieo for you.

When I get home I will have more pics from today's work, but I found a major problem though that is gonna be a major set back. The upper ball joints are toast and no longer available to get, but I am gonna see if a friend of mine can make all new ones for me. I'm gonna take the Walsh to him and leave it and see what he can come up with. So I can save money for now and start saving up for the new Walsh arms, since what I have are from the year 2000 and they are the first gen of the flatties. I will see what they will give me on there buy back program and use that towards the new ones along with my stem too.
Well time to watch some nascar and relax for a bit with my relatives and have dinner too.

Well thank you and all the credit goes to Tony (Pumashine) the bumper was like that already from AC and tony made the hood grill to match. Well the walsh will soon have graphics on it, they just arrived today. Thank you so much Troy, they look awesome.

From a distance it looks like a spherical bearing could be fitted to your arms. They kind of look like a Gibson, which takes a com12.

Well I will be looking around and get it tore apart and get some measurements so I can see what I can use, if not I will try to find the correct ball joint and make them how walsh did.

Call Bob at Rod End Supply, I'm sure he can help you out with all the bearings, pins, and heims. I believe Walsh uses FK Rod Ends.
Thanks Dan, I will get one out and see if they can help me. Because what Walsh had done was buy ball joints and cut the threaded end off and then stick it in a lathe and cut the other part down to drop it in the arm.

That's very generous of ya. I'd let ya ride mine depending on what I have running at the time, but I don't think it would be worthy. Maybe it would just make you appreciate your quads that much more!

It don't matter bud, I'll ride it and throw some dirt with it. A R is a R and it don't have nothing to do with looks and all that, mine took me a long time to get where I'm at at this moment.  You will get there for what you want some day too, it takes time and money bud.

Well I have got some more goodies for the walsh, a new bar pad some odi grips and a cr ignition. I have checked the compression on it the other day to help a friend who has almost the exact same motor and all and I got 245psi. She kicks a little hard to now, I just need to get the money up for the esr adapter plate. I need to figure out my FW seatcover design I want and then get the money up for the shock ls to be done and a +2+1 chrome walsh stem. And a new set of 3/2 dwt rockout front wheels and some tires too. I will get some pics posted with the new bar pad when I can.

Here is how she sits before I left for work today. All cleaned up and ready to go sit in North End Cycles showroom for there open house. They are a sponsor of mine and asked if I could bring one of them for 3 days.
I'm ready for some better and warmer weather to stay so I can go hit the track with her now.

Yah it already is the best looking toy they have there in the show room,  the owner himself and the parts manager and the head mechanic was all like man that is so awesome looking. They are gonna be hooking me up with a great deal on a precision stabile for the walsh and some other parts as well. And I get a real good deal from them on vp 110 now as well too. I can't wait to start racing again now.

Yah that was the only way to put any of the stickers I had there because of the quick disconnect screw. I'm good with it, it's a mx bike not a show piece, lol. Even though I've knkw it looks like a show quad but that's how I like my quads to look.

Ok this was at ride height to set up the front end, and after a few adjustments on the shocks she sits real close to that with me on it as well.
I had to add 2 more stickers to the plastics, I forgot a sponsor who has been there for me for a very long time. Chad and Bill Reed have helped me out alot and I do as much help as I can at Redbud when he is racing. (Chad is a pro racer, but had to take this year off after a bad crash after nationals were over down in Texas at Caleb Moores tribute race)
Here is how she sits now ready to hit the track for some much awaited seat time. I need front shock covers and a set of 4/1 front dot rock out wheels and Maxxis razors. She is too wide with the 3/2 on her rite now.(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/29/yjane8ad.jpg)
