Title: Exhaust Stinger Temps
Post by: havinnoj on August 06, 2018, 10:22:44 PM
Guys - need replacement hose for the pipe to stinger joint.  The high temp eBay stuff is rated to 500*F.  I know EGT’s will obviously be hotter but not sure how hot that joint actually gets.  So is a 500*F rating sufficient or do
I need more?

I have been using copper rtv for the joint lately. It's rated at 700 if I remember correctly. I have also used red rtv which is rated at 500. Neither has failed from heat so I would say a 500 degree rated hose should be ok.

I use the Ebay silicone hoses at that joint.  Haven't had an issue, and it's been on there for roughly 4 years.    I don't think the EGT's are that high that far back on the pipe on our 2 strokes.

Thanks. I just bought one to test.  If that works then I’ll see about building up some clamps.
