Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between 86/87 and 88/89 radiators? Or are the interchangeable?

86/87 has 90' inlet/outlet,88/89 straight

They can be interchangable if you bend out the lower hose connection about an inch. upper is ok. I purchased an Ebay radiator and had to have the lower tube modified. When My fab guy cut it off he noticed that the hole in the radiator was only about 25% open the size of the hose connection. Cant see in the upper one because of the 90 elbow so Im hoping its not restricted. Fab guy said it looked like someone took a punch and just punched a hole in it. He opened that up for me and should be good to go. Havent put mine on my 88 yet though but looks like tomarrow I will find out how it fits. Will let you know. This was before modificationThis was after mod.If you dont modify you end up with this. And this is the stock 86-87 someone tried "making" it work. Hope this clears things up for you.

Was that yours I stole that pic from?.. If it wasnt for that pic I wouldnt have even thought to look at that before I bought my radiator. Thanks if it was yours..lol

It all good, thats why I took that pic! That was for the ebay radiators in a stock 86' chassis. When I bought that rad I think they had it listed as 87-89 for some reason, but now I think they are listed as 86-87. Also that rad with red hoses was only $99 shipped, they have gone up since. I gently pryed that lower outlet out towards the motor with a pry bar just enough to clear the frame,no big deal. Also, when I put that rad in my Laeger it had more room than the 86'. Glad the pics helped!!

Are the OEM hoses for 88-89 a different bend where they clamp to the radiator? Never used anything besides 86 radiators and hoses.
