What d oyou all think would be the best to use to hold the nets together after I use a hole punch to cut the holes in them. I am thinking of allen head bolts with the tapped head and some washers and lock nuts on the back side. Here is a pic of what I am talking about.

I will get some more pics tomorrow and a pic of the style of allen bolt I am thinking about using.
-
Can't sew them? I use to use my moms sewing matching to make my own nets. A square with a X in the middle. No one ever knew I made them
-
I did the bolt thing recently and it hasn't been near as durable as putting on the snap together metal buttons that I did last time. The buttons lasted for over a decade whereas the bolts are ripping the nets after a very short while. On both installs I took an old ice pick and heated it up with a torch to melt the holes into the nets to help keep them from fraying. Btw my nerfs and nets are AC Racing. Maybe I just got a cheaper made set of nets from them the 2nd time. IDK. I'm nerf bar challenged in that I hate putting those nets in.:(
-
Ive never seen anyone attach their nerf nets to the chassis. Cut them.
-
I have my nets made to wrap the chassi, I am sorta handicaped. My left ankle was crushed racing, my foot slipped off of my peg when landing from a jump, it went through the net and I landed on it. I always have my nets made and wrap the frame with them, I was just wondering what yall would suggest for hardware. I use to rivet them but that's a pain but it works, I was thinking of as allen bolts, washers, and lock nuts.
-
are rivets an option?
john

I've done the rivets before and its to much bull to mess with if you have to take them off for any reason.

i found something that might work. see the chicago screws. i have no idea the strength they have but something similiar may be what you need.

these seem to be the best:

Here ya go Jamie...
Would be easy enough to make with some 2" wide flat stock...just put 2 slots in it.
Or maybe call pro armor (thats what brand these are) and see if they will send ya some sense you lost yours ;)
-
^^^^^^Just go to the store and borrow some of those off of the school kids backbacks. I'm sure the shelves are stocked this time of year.:p

I like those a lot man, that makes even better sense, and I didn't loose mine. I had these nets made and the straps made longer so I could do that to them because of my ankle and the no movement of my ankle.

And red88r I will let you borrow them just send them to me , please.

Funny you knew you needed these before you painted the frame. Try to remember to weld these little net holders on the frame before painting.

I was trying to figure out how to make a small bar with these welded on to clamp to your frame as a last resort.

Thanks Tony, but I will pry get the ones that sameltoe posted up, I use to pop rivet them, and then I use to bolt them. So I will go with sams way.

Wally world sells the snap together button kit, but it is a pain to install(just like nets!). That Pro armor setup looks nice and obviously the strongest. I have bad ankles too(have broke both) BTW so I understand the importance of what you're trying to do. What boots do ya wear? Tech 3's for me.

I was wearing tech 8's when I my tip went through the Kevlar, and tech 8's when I crushed my ankle. Now the way my ankle is I can only wear my tech 10's, I tried all boots on after that and the only ones that felt good because of my ankle was the tech 10's. I could wear those boots all day and not bother my feet but sweat.
