When I got my R it came with a complete (minus the shock) 450r swing arm that the dude was planning on installing. My question is, is it worth the doing the conversion or it just a waste of time?

I think it's worth it if the linkage issue can be figured out. I know several varations of linkage combinations have been used to make the 250R shock work on the 450R swingarm just not sure what one has the correct ratio.
I know Laz from GT Thunder did a swap but unsure of the linkage combo he used. I know Andy from Maul tech was looking into it as well but haven't heard anything in a while. I would hope that someone comes up with
something cuz it's a cheap upgrade for the 86-87 R.

^^^^^Agreed! I think there is some real potential here if the correct linkage ratio is worked out. Not to mention the linkage parts would be alot newer with better bearings.

I think I'm gonna machine some new linkage for my 450r swinger. I hope to be installing the new swinger with linkage soon. I quess if I don't like the 450r stuff I can always go back to the 250r
winger.

I texted Andy today to let him know about the new site. Be nice to get him on board,I have yet to hear about the progress on the linkage though

the correct linkage ratio is posted here on this site. it has been confirmed to me as well as a video that was set up with a gopro pointed down to view the suspension under actual riding conditions. here you go follow this formula it works.
look at this thread. 450 swingarm conversion
