Title: PSI dial-a-dome cool head
Post by: jamieg45 on September 03, 2013, 01:17:53 PM
What I have here is a psi dial-a-dome cool head, they are no longer available from what I can tell in there catalog. But I called and talked to Bruce at PSI and the parts for them are still available to get. This is a very nice looking head and was real popular too, rath use to run all psi on his 250r motors when he was racing the r for flat track. This head will need studs/nuts and the head to cylinder O-rings, cost is $108 forall of it from PSI I just called them and checked on it all. This was $325 new with all parts included, hows $130 shipped for it. I will also throw in some PSI stickers too, I use to deal with them for zrt600 cat sled when I was riding and racing a lot.

Does that fit an oem cylinder or the 425 psi cylinder?

The 425 has an octagon head. This head is for stock cylinders only. I ran one for a short time it worked well

Thanks guys I was at a college football party, Yes this is for the stock cylinder, It just needs studs and head nuts and the O-rings for the head to seal to the cylinder.

The dial-a-dome has always intrigued me, but my curiosity was never worth the price tag they were looking for.

The concept is simple, just move the crown of the dome further or close to the piston.  But do they move the WHOLE crown, squish band and all?

The dome area is the only part that moves, I had a set on sled motor once they worked reliable for me, I always adjusted them after the motor cooled down and always assembled the domes orings with silicon grease so the domes could turn and not tear the orings.

Ultimately you want the dome when screwed all the way down to be you race setup for what ever fuel you normally run then back it off for safer reliability when just trail riding and cruising.

when backed off, and giving you less compression there is a hard edge going straight up this edge does get a little warm because I use to get a little carbon marking at the edge and heat is how that happens, but I never had a detonation issue because of it.
