You would think it would be the other way around, carbon fiber last longer, but not that I have used.
The real problem all together, no reed stops. If there was a reed stop on the cage, that would add a bed for the reed petals to lay on as they opened, but as it is now the reeds are allowed to open up freely in any manner they want.
A reed stop, would keep the ends of the petals from slapping the reed chamber when the fully open at high rpms, which results in the petals being bent on the ends & finely cracking or chipping the petals.
The fiber glass reeds do last longer though, but soon or later they will give up.
No reed stop & you have a better acting reed cage, but we pay the price of having to replace petals sooner.
McMaster Carr, sells fiber glass & carbon fiber sheets in different thicknesses, so maybe its time for some testing on different designs of reed petals.
Thicker the material used, more it is suited for higher rpm ranges, thin, low rpms where the reeds will respond easier. Thin though in high rpms, will flutter & distort & resulting effect will be hp loss.
