Title: CR250 ignition with Nology coil
Post by: liv2ride on September 14, 2013, 06:49:52 PM
Are there any known issues with using a CR250 ignition with an aftermarket coil such as Nology? I like the original igniton system over the CR250. My stator went bad and I had the CR ignition without a coil already so I swapped it out. It works, I'm going through an engine break in with it for the new piston and rings. I just thought I'd ask about before I really ride it. Is there any reason I should use a CR250 coil over the Nology coil I was already using with my original '86 setup?

Found it on Nologys site. The one I have is made for the CR250 all years. The P/N is PFC-03S in case anyone needs the info

I have used the nology coil on a about 3 different cr250 ignition and never had a problem.  I did not install the resistor in the wire.  I also ran resistor plugs.  You will like it.  Mount the ground strap to a bare metal spot on the frame.  Make sure you have the 0.3 ohm profire coil.

I run the nology coil and hot wire with the cr250 ignition on my saber for a few years now with no probs.
