Has anyone tried the 2002 CR250 setup yet? Just wondering since you can get everything you need (OEM) through Honda.
ESR has the adapter plate for it...

from my understanding,
the 02/03 has less timing advance on the top third rpm range, to have a slight less hit from power band over the 01, and the +04 to 07 have a little less advance from above 1/3 all the way to the top over the +04 to have a smoother power delivery,
along with provisions on the harness for the RC valve, you can either modify the harness to remove the regulator and Rc. valve connections or blank them off good, as long as its well insulated you can just tuck the wires away and secure them
but I've only done a very little research on these so of course time will tell how the timing curve fits your riding style

Watch for rsss on here to dissect one soon and lay it out. I believe he was waiting for one to do just like he has laid out the 01 250 with misc oem cdi's and some others. It will be interesting to see.

With Dave and Barry's expertise, we'll have the next generation CDI ignition. Make it so!

someone was suppose to send me a 02 to test but cant remember who?
just tested the HB9 CDI you can buy on ebay and from Carla and it checked out perfect with my factory 88 HB9 CDI

Was that a typo or were you being sarcastic, LOL.

no I tested a aftermarket CDI for Ryan Wesly a member here on the board that bought it on Ebay, it is marked Exactly like the OEM piece and cheaper than the Carla ones that he claims are OEM which we all know is just another lie.
These aftermarket CDI's are made by the orig manufacture that made them for honda which is Shindengen

OK, gotcha now. I thought you meant to say you tested a new cr250r ignition setup that worked and instead of putting the correct number, you had put the same number twice. For those of us who aren't as knowledgeable on the electrical setups, the HB9 is simply an OEM replacement and has nothing to do with a cr250r ignition, correct?
-
I probably should not have mentioned the HB9 CDI in this cr250 thread, the HB9 is the 1988-89 CDI's from Honda, But they work on all the 86-89 bikes and there are ebay sellers selling brand new ones made by the same manufacture that Honda used in the 80's and are even marked with the same HB9 sticker like the originals were.
Now if you talk to Carla he will try and convince you that he is selling a OEM piece from him, but in reality he is just selling the same thing as the other seller or sellers on ebay but for a higher price.
I tested this CDI because of all the knock off stuff from china and questioned whether these CDI's were any good because so many people having bad luck with the other off brand CDI's.
The Ebay CDI Ryan bought is legit from what I can tell in my testing and would not hesitate to buy one myself.

Any progress on the 2002 CR250 setup?

X2???
...and what about the CR500 setup from Service Honda? I've got my eye on one of those because of the future potential for lighting

This is really bugging me. ESR has the adapter but it seems like the R community has no intel on the OEM ignition setup. You can still get everything from Honda for now or until someone buys out the remaining inventory. I want to pull the trigger but need the blueprint.

have you tryed to search for any results for 2002? Dave has done a map of the 2002,2003 about a mouinth ago...
this might help I http://trx250r.org/showthread.php?96-Ign-maps&highlight=2002

Thanks...missed the 2002 stuff that was added.

I don't want to mess up his thread by adding stupid questions. Plus that stuff is way over head. My understanding was that the ESR plate for the 2001 along with the CR ignition was a direct bolt on. I'm just trying to confirm the same thing for the 2002 ESR plate and OEM ignition.
