Just curious of there is any way to tell one cdi and coil from the next? I assume there is some sort of part number stamped on the oem ones?? If so could sombody please post what that is. I know you can still buy the coils from service honda but the cdi are discontinued. I see a lot of different ones on eBay ranging in price but I have a hard time trusting eBay sellers. I'm looking for an 89 cdi

I tested a aftermarket CDI for Ryan Wesly a member here on the board that bought it on Ebay, it looks, is marked and works exactly like the OEM piece off my 88 bike's HB9 CDI.
The 88-89 have a HB9 chrome sticker on them and I believe the 86-87 have a HA2 chrome sticker.

Ok thanks, Is there a number for the coil??

CDI box he is talking about is on ebay, I talked to the guy because my paypal wouldn't work at the time, box is coming from an importer he purchases from here in the states from the company who made the CDI box for Honda. CDI is made in Japan and appears to be identical in all ways I just wanted him to test it to see and it turns out the curves match also so I would say the guy is telling the truth. He has it labeled as OEM in his ad I suppose it may be a stretch but the fact is the box appears in all ways to be what Honda was using from their supplier so I guess one could call it that. I have been running one of these boxes for well over a year now with no problems, guessing it has over 100 hrs on it.

Just recently bought one as well $99. It is made in Japan. Put in on my bone stock 89 and works great. I'd say these are new OEM CDi's just like he says.
