Title: cr 500 link intake boot
Post by: rk88r on September 30, 2013, 08:49:05 PM
Anyone have any pointers on fitting the intake better? It seems to be to long. Trx manifold, v force cage, and a 38as carb on a laeger frame with a stock air box. Does a cr or upp intake manifold help?

I just spaced my Airbox back about 1/2" CR intake boot, and 1/2" reed spacer.  It all fits in there.

I'll try the upp then. I'm hoping to gain a little clearance from the spring as well.
Thanks Rick

My setup, 2001 Laeger CR500 frame, 1996 OE CR250 carb boot and reed cage (Sparks setup) sometimes run the V Force 3 CR250 cage, 38 PWK AS, 86 250R airboot, 89 250R airbox. I have to slightly pull my airbox forward 3/16 to 1/4. I run no reed spacer and have plenty of clearance plus the 1996 CR carb boot has the best angle on it of all the CR boots (every year CR is slightly different) also my 86 250R airboot is new old stock.

Hmm I'm definitely running about a 1/2" long right now.

I just ordered a upp intake. The cr intake with the built in stuffer, I have a trx vf-3 cage, scared me away from that. Thanks again guys.

Well Matt you nailed it. The upp intake doesn't solve my length issue at all. New cr setup with v-force $190 argh!! I might just put the cr rad valve setup in for now.

I did not like the angle of the boyseen CR Rad Valve, pushes the carb and airbox boot into the frame rail, get yourself an OE Honda 1996 CR250 reed cage air boot and reed cage off ebay for $40-$50 and throw some boyseen reeds on it if the Honda reeds are bad. Its a good setup and the same thing Curtis Sparks use to sell for $100. The 96 CR reed cage boot has the angle and length you are looking for.
