What do you guys use for cleaning your engine? After a ride it is almost impossible to get all of the dirt out of the nooks and crannies with a regular sponge and soap and water. I'm not a clean freak about my bike but I'm trying to keep my latest build as clean as I can for as long as I can. The motor will be in the frame if that matters. Thanks.

Good ole cleaning solvent. Its spendy like $8 gallon. I use 2 brushes. One on a wire that goes between the shifter and case saver with bristles on the side. The other has bristles coming out the end.

Formula 88 and a couple different size brushes, as Tony suggested.

i buy this stuff at the local Dollar Store. It works pretty good..

I like the old formula engine cleaners that were kind of like diesel fuel, its hard to find but all the foaming ones suck

For bare aluminum you can use Alum-brite, its an acid that sits just a minute or 2 and you can scrub to make it really work. It really cleans diry, mud stained engines well. Just be careful where its sprayed and how long you let it sit. Napa, carquest, and maybe autozone should caryy it.

I can't stand the smell either. Its just nauseous.

and a brush. Don't let it sit on aluminum for long.

Thanks for the replys. I have some of the purple power but that stuff is powerful as hell. It took some of the blacktop off outside my garage lol. The engine is painted black with the ESR cast cylinder. Would the other options be too harsh for paint and the casting?

I like Simple Green......not too harsh and does a pretty good job.
